Imo, the Beach Pit is the best all around restaurant in 10 miles. Everything is done quite well , great variety to please a hungry crowd. We tried everything from breakfast to lemon pepper shrimp to hamburgers. And excellent service. The best wait staff on the gulf.I highly recommend.
My wife ordered Grouper. Big mistake. Very small, nondescript piece of fish that to my taste may well have been cod fish patty from McDonald's.

Great potential, but the chef needs to step it up. If the chef happens to be the owner, then my message is that you are being lazy dude. You have a lot of competitors who are blowing you away.
I ordered the BBQ plate, and while the serving was very generous, the BBQ sauce tasted like it came from the grocery store. I was considering getting onion rings a s a side, but asked the waitress if the were fresh made and she told me "no", that they were frozen, but "really good". PASS! I'm a true Southern BBQ lover, so I prefer, no...DEMAND BBQ that tastes like there's some pride behind it. And frozen onion rings are just in-excusable.
Food was just OK. Pricing is very high. They even charged us $1.00 each for preparing the shrimp in our shrimp dinner? At $15.99 a dinner you'd think they'd include the prep in the price. Why??? Orange juice $4.00 for a large, I could buy a gallon!! Kids charged $1.00 each for cheese on their burgers and the waitress never mentions these things when taking your order, it's a surprise!!! We live an hour away so we come at least 5 times a year but no more. Disappointed. Could be new management, they've lost the local down home feel.
Good food and good service, we have eaten here many times. The only thing is, if you get it to go, be sure to double check your order. Almost every time they have left something out. They have replaced it or given us a credit, but it's almost funny how often it has happened.
The food was really only average or slightly below.
